Ashtavargam Kashaya or Ashtavargam Kashayam is an ayurvedic medicinal decoction. It is used in treating Vata predominant disease. It is also known as Bala Sahacharadi Kashaya.
Ingredients of Ashtavargam Kashaya:
- Bala (Sida cordifolia)
- Sahachara (Strobilanthes Ciliatus)
- Eranda (Ricinus communis)
- Shunti (Zingiber officinalis)
- Rasna (Pluchea lanceolata)
- Suradruma/Devadaru (Cedrus deodara)
- Sinduvara/Nirgundi (Vitex negundo)
- Lashuna (Allium Sativum)
Preparation of Ashtavargam Kashaya
All the ingredients are taken in equal parts and made the coarse powder. Then the mixture is heated adding 16 times of water and reduced to 1/4 quantity. Later it is filtered and used.

Dosage of Ashtavargam Kashaya :
In general Ashtavargam Kashaya is advised 15 – 30 ml with 45 ml of water as an adult dose or As directed by the physician.
